Committee Information

Below are the dates and times for all student government and college committees and workgroups. These are open to the public, and all students are welcome to attend. Many important decisions are made in these meetings, so it is a great opportunity to have your voice heard.

Student Government Committees

Calculator

Appropriations Committee

When: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 2:00pm-3:00pm

What: creates the budget, manages the reserve fund, and advises student government on financial matters.

Chair: Emmalia Prescott, Student Treasurer

Student Legislative Affairs Committee

When:  2nd and 4th Mondays, 2:00pm-3:00pm

What: revises the Constitution and Bylaws, promotes the Student Health Center, and represents Western Students with Legislators.

Chair: Adrian Moreno, Student Parliamentarian

Campus Events Committee

When: Every Wednesday, 12:45pm-1:45pm 

What: plans and runs campus events around campus. Upcoming events can be viewed on the "Campus Events" page.

Chair: Carolyn Swift, Campus Events Coordinator

Textbook Committee

The Textbook subcommittee was created by the executive committee to look into textbook affordability at Western.

AODA Workgroup

When: 2nd Tuesdays of the month at 3pm-3:45pm

What: supports and encourages healthy lifestyle choices related to alcohol and other drugs through policy change, implementation of effective programs, and promotion of personal responsibility

Chair: Ge Vang, Student Activities/AODA Specialist

Well Rounded

When: 1st Tuesday of the Month, 3pm-3:45pm.

What: we create educational opportunities and activities that empower students to live a healthy life.  We believe that an individual commitment to well-being leads to building a campus community that values health, safety, and belonging.

Chair: Ryan Monroe, Wellness Center Manager

Tobacco Free Workgroup

When: meets once a month.

What: does policy reminder, reviews policies, puts on educational programs, and promotes cessation resources. 

Chair: Ge Vang, Student Activities/AODA Specialist

Club Participation

Clubs who have a member sit on a committee are eligible to earn up to $100 in travel funding based on the attendance of the member. To join a committee as a club member, reach out to Ge vang (linked below) with your name, club, contact information, and what committee you would like to join.
